There are many historic cities in England where the architecture has been shaped by ancient origins and subsequent ages of influence. Of these, it is perhaps the industrial revolution which has contributed most to the skylines and cityscapes around the country, but in Norwich, where trade with continental Europe was more likely than with London, industrialisation and heavy industry took less of a hold. The result is a city which retains many of its ancient streets and buildings, bursting with charm and character and set against a stunning rural landscape. Norwich venues, as a result, are some of the best in the country and suitable for a wide range of events.

The most obvious historic legacy of the city is Norwich Castle and the incredible Norwich Cathedral, built from limestone brought direct from Normandy. Both are major tourist attractions and the castle houses a popular museum.
In addition to these imposing structures, there are two types of property in the city which throughout history have increased in number more than any other and those are the churches and the pubs. It is said there is a Norwich church for every week of the year and pub for every day. While the former make natural Norwich venues for wedding ceremonies, the latter are perfect for wedding celebrations.
Many of the pubs in the city take the form of historic coaching inns and these make some of the most attractive Norwich venues for both weddings and business meetings.

The period stone and wood features which characterise such establishments make for a very pleasant environment and for weddings offer up a great backdrop for photographs. This is true of the outdoor environments too, such as the gardens, courtyards and other outdoor areas typical of traditional inns, and these take on an added importance and appeal for glorious summer weddings.
Certainly there will be an event space or function suite within these inns in which to host a wedding reception but many such venues can conduct civil and partnership ceremonies too. Fully inclusive wedding packages are usually available and will comprise all aspects of the ceremony and reception and sometime also special accommodation rates for guests. Traditional inns are often found in the outskirts of the city where historically they would offer lodgings and sustenance to weary travellers arriving from elsewhere. These Norwich venues are found within the city centre too as are some grand old luxury hotels which have their own special appeal for stylish and sophisticated events.

Classic old hotels and inns will have all the facilities and technology required for conferences and business meetings as this is certainly true of the more modern establishments. Some hotels are specifically designed with business in mind and in addition to a series of meeting and conferences spaces will also have general facilities and services for the corporate traveller.
Guest rooms will be equipped with work desks, internet connectivity and direct dial telephones and there may be options for computer hire and print, fax, and copying services.
The extent of additional leisure facilities will depend on the size and stature of the hotel. The wonderful natural surrounds of the Norfolk countryside are home to some fabulous luxury hotel resorts adapted from country clubs and historic mansion houses.

These will have a wealth of leisure options and attractions and are commonly used as short break retreats for some pampering within spa facilities or outdoor activities such as country sports or golf. These countryside hotels make fantastic Norwich venues as ideally suited to weddings and celebrations as to corporate retreats, where fun activities and team bonding form an essential part of the experience.
